The Sky Isn’t The Limit: Celebrating Our Charity Sky Dive!

Alex Gillespie and Thomas Lang Raise Over £1,000 in Charity Sky Dive

On the 12th May, two Gillespie Manners colleagues undertook a charity skydive at The North London Sky Diving Centre to raise funds for The Hospice of St Francis, a local charity to Berkhamsted, where Gillespie Manners is headquartered.

We set the original fundraising target at £700, with both of our divers confident in gaining roughly 50% each from colleagues, friends, family and clients. We’re proud to say that (so far) they have actually raised £1,170, which is 167% of the target!

A sunny day with bright blue skies and little cloud cover made for fantastic visibility during the 15,000ft jump. Diver One was Alex Gillespie, Co-Founder of the business, who said: “Raising money for a cause so close to the heart of our community was a total honour. To do it via such an exhilarating experience was very exciting, albeit nerve wracking! Tom and I are really proud to have raised such a huge amount of money for the hospice. We’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who donated.”

Diver number two was Thomas Lang, Head of Retail Technology, who was quoted as calling this event an excellent personal achievement, as well as a brilliant way to support a charity.

Cheered on by friends and family, our two divers fell through the air at 125mph before pulling the parachutes and floating the final mile down to the ground. Thankfully, both had a smooth landing.

Events like these go towards Gillespie Manners corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts. CSR is viewed as a serious part of the Gillespie Manners ethos, which we keep at the forefront of our minds via initiatives such as our long-standing Bronze partnership with the hospice.

The fundraised sum of £1,170 will go towards the support of vital Hospice of St Francis services that provide home and centre care to members of the local community in need of personal nursing.

These services include a wonderful in-patient facility and a free-to-access wellbeing centre which hosts a range of therapies for those suffering with neurological, heart or lung conditions, and cancer. The hospice also provides resources and support to family members affected by their loved ones’ ongoing illnesses.

Once the money was donated, we had a lovely response from Claire Larkin, Corporate Partnerships Manager at The Hospice of St Francis who said “I’m in awe of everyone who does this! Thank you so much for your support Gillespie Manners Global Executive Search, we’re so grateful!” as well as Hospice CEO, Kate Phipps-Wiltshire who personally thanked Alex and Thomas for their efforts.

This is just one insight into the kind of activities that we take part in here at Gillespie Manners. Our wider team are now busy planning more fundraising challenges and events in 2024.
